Annie Wilson’s Bio: Annie Wilson, a South Carolina native, earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the University of South Carolina and graduated cum laude. She received her law degree at the University of South Carolina where she was Chief Justice of the Moot Court Bar, and a member of the Order of the Barristers, President’s Council, John Belton O’Neill Inn of Court, and Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity.
Prior to joining Capitol Consultants, Annie worked with several Columbia law firms, the South Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee, and Circuit Court Judge Howard P. King on criminal matters.
At Capitol Consultants, Annie and Richard Davis lead the Lobby Team and have been ranked the #1 & #2 Lobbyists in the state consistently by the Columbia Business Report. In addition to lobbying, Annie serves as Executive Director for multiple trade associations and nonprofit organizations.
Annie is a lobbyist for the South Carolina Dental Association and member of the South Carolina Bar's Administrative Law Committee and regularly speaks to associations and community groups on the legislative process and advocacy training.
Educational Objectives (Advocacy and Legislative Updates):
The latest issues in dental legislation in South Carolina and tort reform overview of the 2026 session and what’s to come general dynamics of the legislature. Learn how to effectively advocate.
Tariq Javed, DMD, MSD. MS (Bio): Dr. Tariq Javed is a Professor of Periodontics and director of the predoctoral student admissions at the James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine, Medical University of South Carolina. Previously, he served as the Associate Dean of the Academic and Student Affairs and the Director of the Residency Program in Periodontics at the JBE-CDM. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. He maintains membership in many professional organizations including the American Dental Association and has served on various committees, councils, and commissions of professional organizations. He has maintained an intramural dental faculty practice limited to Periodontics at the JBE-CDM. He has presented continuing education courses and workshops in the USA and abroad.
Educational Objectives (Management of Periodontal Focused Emergencies in Dental Practice):
- Define and Classify the Periodontal Focused Emergencies in Dental Practice
- Understand the signs and symptoms, diagnosis, differential diagnoses, and treatment of Periodontal Focused Emergencies in Dental Practice.
The discussion will include the following:
Incidental Emergencies, Iatrogenic Dentistry, Periodontal and Intramural Abscesses, Acute Necrotizing Ulcerative Gingivitis and Periodontitis, Recurrent Aphthous Ulcers, Primary Herpetic Gingivostomatitis.
- Understand the periodontal emergencies in relation to bleeding problems and their management
- Understand the emergencies related to implant failures and their management
Dr. Fabio Antonio Piola Rizzante, DDS, MSc, PhD, MBA (Bio):

Dr. Fabio Rizzante is a dental educator, researcher, and clinician passionate about digital dentistry, innovation, esthetic, and restorative dentistry. He holds a DDS, MSc, and PhD from the University of São Paulo and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Rizzante holds a DDS, MSc, and PhD from the University of São Paulo and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and secured over $1 million in research funding. At MUSC, he leads initiatives integrating emerging technologies into dental education, research, and patient care, and spearheaded the development of the MUSC College of Dental Medicine Innovation Laboratory, which has established a $2 million strategic partnership with Henry Schein.
Previously, Dr. Rizzante held faculty and leadership positions at the University of Michigan and Case Western Reserve University. His work focuses on leveraging technology to improve education, clinical efficiency, and patient care.
Educational Objectives (Practical Innovation for the Community Dentist):
- Identify practical digital and innovative technologies applicable to everyday dental practice.
- Identify how digital dentistry can enhance the diagnosis, treatment planning, and delivery of routine dental care.
- Identify opportunities to streamline clinical workflows and improve communication
