therapy (OMT) and airway health. With a rich

background in dentistry, Melissa brings an

Overview:

This in-person lecture, led by Melissa Mugno with special guests Dr. Joanna Dover and Kayla

Viola, RDH, will explore the critical connections between breathing, chewing, oral function, and

cranial growth. Attendees will learn how soft tissue dysfunction, or Oral Myofunctional Disorders

(OMDs), impacts dentition and overall cranial stability. By the end of the session, participants

will have practical tools to screen for OMDs, address dysfunctional breathing patterns, and

integrate airway-focused philosophies into their dental practices.

2. Recognize the signs of Oral Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs) and dysfunctional

breathing.
